FAMILY TIES (2022)
CASE NR.1
A reflection on heritage, memory, and cultural identity.
Inspired by personal moments of revisiting family photo albums, Family Ties explored how we understand our roots—through stories, images, and traditions passed down over time.
The exhibition brought together artists interpreting lineage, ancestry, and Hispanic heritage, creating a shared space for reflection and cultural pride.

I visited my mother one afternoon and found the dining table covered in old photo albums. As we flipped through them over coffee, we talked, laughed, and reflected on how much time had passed.
Then I came across a photo of my great-grandmother—someone I had never seen before. In that moment, I realized how little I knew about my own heritage.
For many of us, our understanding of family and where we come from lives in fragments—stories passed down by grandparents, photographs on the wall, and traditions carried through generations.
Family Ties was created from that realization—an exhibition celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through work inspired by ancestry, identity, and cultural roots.
